Brain structure and function and gastrointestinal motility: Will be assessed with functional, structural, diffusion weighted and abdominal MRI, and with abdominal ultrasonography.

Microbiota

Microbiota profiles in IBS: Blood and stool samples will enable understanding of the microbial signatures in IBS.

Cognition and emotion in IBS: Will be evaluated through neuropsychological assessments and combined with data from the other work packages.

Diet

The importance of diet in driving IBS: Low-FODMAP diet has been shown helpful reliving IBS symptoms, and through our multidisciplinary research we hope to understand driving mechanisms for this effect.

Patient phenotypes and identification of clinically useful molecular and imaging-derived biomarkers: Possible biomarkers will be explored through all our data collection methods, and using machine-learning.
